Van engines live harder lives

A working van covers in three years the mileage a family car covers in ten. It runs loaded, it idles at job sites and it rarely gets a gentle warm up on a cold morning. That life shows up in predictable ways. Wet belts degrade early, injectors wear, turbos work harder and bearings take a beating. The Ford Transit 2.0 EcoBlue is the engine we rebuild most, and its wet belt driven oil pump is the failure we see most often.

Because we know these patterns, we diagnose fast. A Transit with a no start and low oil pressure gets its pickup checked first. A Sprinter with a rattle gets its chain checked first. Speed matters when the vehicle earns money, and experience is what makes speed possible without cutting corners.

Fully repaired after failure from £2,495, with the same photographic rebuild report, video inspection and test certification that every customer receives. Fleet operators tell us the documentation alone is worth it, because it gives them a maintenance record that stands up at resale time.

  • Ford Transit, Transit Custom and Transit Connect, including the 2.0 EcoBlue
  • Mercedes Sprinter and Vito, including the OM651 diesel
  • Volkswagen Transporter and Crafter TDI engines

Priority turnaround for working vehicles

We keep common van engine parts in stock, including EcoBlue wet belt kits, chains, bearings and gaskets, because waiting a week for parts is a week of lost work. Collection is arranged from your home, your depot or the garage where the van sits, and we return it repaired and test certified. Many van rebuilds are completed inside ten working days.

If you run a fleet, talk to us about a standing arrangement. A single point of contact, fixed pricing and documented rebuilds make fleet engine failures far less painful. Read more about the engines we know best in our Transit EcoBlue guide and Sprinter OM651 guide.

Repair the van you know

When a van engine fails, the temptation is to cut losses and buy another van or fit a used engine. Both are gambles. A used van comes with someone else’s problems, and a used engine comes with an unknown history and double labour if it proves faulty. Rebuilding your own engine keeps the vehicle you know on the road, with a warranty that transfers if you sell it.

Our repair versus used engine guide explains the numbers, and our prices page shows what a proper repair costs. One call is all it takes to get a fixed quote for your van.

The process

How your engine gets rebuilt

01

Tell us what happened

Call or send the form and describe the symptoms. A rattle, smoke, a warning light or a complete failure. We will ask a few questions about the vehicle and give you an honest first view over the phone.

02

We collect the vehicle

Our collection service picks the vehicle up directly from your home, your workplace or your garage, anywhere in the UK. Non runners are no problem. Recovery to one of our workshops is all part of the service.

03

Strip down and video inspection

We dismantle the engine and record a video inspection of every component. You see exactly what failed and why before you spend a penny on parts. Then you approve a fixed written quote.

04

Rebuild with OEM parts

Our engineers rebuild the engine with OEM parts and photograph every stage. The photographic rebuild report becomes your record of the work and supports your warranty and the vehicle’s resale value.

05

Test certified and returned

Every rebuild is test certified before the engine leaves the workshop. We return the vehicle to your door with the report, the certification and a 12 month warranty that transfers to the next keeper.

Collection service

We collect from your home or garage

An engine failure usually means a vehicle that will not drive, and arranging recovery is the last thing you need. We handle it. Our collection service picks your vehicle up directly from your home, your workplace or your local garage and recovers it to one of our workshops in Reading, Manchester, Macclesfield, London or Durham.

When the work is finished and the engine is test certified, we bring the vehicle back to you. The whole repair can happen without you arranging a single journey. For vans and working vehicles we prioritise turnaround because we understand that every day off the road costs you money.

Five star rated engine repair and rebuild service

The video of my stripped engine showed exactly why it failed. The rebuild was finished in a week and the car has been perfect since.
Mark T, Reading
My Transit is my living. They collected it from my depot, rebuilt the EcoBlue and had me back working inside ten days.
Sandra K, Manchester
Two garages told me to scrap the car or fit a used engine. Engine Repairs rebuilt it properly and the warranty transferred when I sold it.
