Ford Transit 2.0 EcoBlue repair and rebuild

The 2.0 EcoBlue diesel powers the Transit, Transit Custom and Tourneo ranges that keep British business moving. It is a strong engine when maintained properly, but high mileage working vans put it under real strain. Like the petrol EcoBoost, the EcoBlue uses a wet belt for the oil pump drive, and belt degradation is the single biggest killer of these engines. Injector failures and turbocharger wear are also common on hard worked vans.

How this engine fails

A failing wet belt on the EcoBlue starves the engine of oil and can seize it without warning. Injector seal failure shows up as a chuffing noise, a diesel smell in the cab and carbon build up around the injector. Turbo wear shows as a loss of power and blue smoke. Because these vans earn their keep every day, many arrive with us having covered well over one hundred thousand miles with patchy service history.

How we put it right

Van engine repair is a core part of our business and the EcoBlue is one of the engines we know best. We carry out preventative wet belt replacement with OEM kits, and we rebuild failed engines with new bearings, pistons, chains and gaskets. We know a van off the road costs you money every day, so we prioritise working vehicles and offer collection directly from your home, depot or garage. Every rebuild is photographed, documented, test certified and covered by our 12 month transferable warranty.

The process

How your engine gets rebuilt

01

Tell us what happened

Call or send the form and describe the symptoms. A rattle, smoke, a warning light or a complete failure. We will ask a few questions about the vehicle and give you an honest first view over the phone.

02

We collect the vehicle

Our collection service picks the vehicle up directly from your home, your workplace or your garage, anywhere in the UK. Non runners are no problem. Recovery to one of our workshops is all part of the service.

03

Strip down and video inspection

We dismantle the engine and record a video inspection of every component. You see exactly what failed and why before you spend a penny on parts. Then you approve a fixed written quote.

04

Rebuild with OEM parts

Our engineers rebuild the engine with OEM parts and photograph every stage. The photographic rebuild report becomes your record of the work and supports your warranty and the vehicle’s resale value.

05

Test certified and returned

Every rebuild is test certified before the engine leaves the workshop. We return the vehicle to your door with the report, the certification and a 12 month warranty that transfers to the next keeper.

The video of my stripped engine showed exactly why it failed. The rebuild was finished in a week and the car has been perfect since.

Two garages told me to scrap the car or fit a used engine. Engine Repairs rebuilt it properly and the warranty transferred when I sold it.
