Vauxhall 1.4 Turbo repair and rebuild
The Vauxhall 1.4 turbo petrol engine is found in huge numbers of Astras, Corsas, Mokkas and Insignias on UK roads. It is punchy and refined, but timing chain wear and turbocharger failure are common complaints, especially on cars that have missed oil changes. How this engine fails
A rattling timing chain is the first sign many owners notice. Left alone the chain can jump and bend the valves. Turbo failure shows as a whining noise, smoke and a sudden loss of power, and a failed turbo can send oil into the intake and cause the engine to run away. Oil consumption from ring land damage often goes unnoticed until the oil level drops far enough to cause real harm.
